Can't rename remote file with filename ending in a period

I am using the latest WinSCP 5.5.1 (Build 3970) client on Windows 7.

I recently renamed a remote file while connected to an FTP PureFTP server running on Linux. However I accidentally ended the filename with a period and no filename extension. For example:

helloworld.

... instead of:

helloworld
or
helloworld.php

WinSCP was happy to rename the file that way. Unfortunately once that was done, the dot did not display as part of the filename nor could I rename, open, copy or delete the file. I ended up having to use a different FTP client to add the filename extension or remove the trailing dot.

It doesn't happen to me very often to make such a mistake but I feel that WinSCP should be able to handle such a situation.

Could someone please look into this and address this issue?

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like additional information.

Best regards,
