One little note, can you make it so the file selection stays after a process has taken place, for instance, when I copy files from the server, they become unselected as they move, I perform multiple tasks on the same group of files, after each task I have to re-select the files again. Can you keep the marked files from clearing until they are manually cleared?

Not this way. But I can add new command like "restore last selection".

Found a solution

Hi Martin,
I just had to change my procedure a little but found a way, and WinSCP makes it possible.

I can sort the directory by name, getting all the fer_ files in a nice bundle.

Copy those to my local machine.

Since the copy actually copies the date and time stamps, I can then sort that list my date and remove the ones I don't want.

Problem solved and WinSCP wins again.

Still would be nice though to have a kind of search function to queue things up in.

Re: Find Files

Can something like this be added to WinSCP, even if the option came in the form of a less than greater than option in the mark then I could say 'Please mark all the files newer than Jul-08-2005 that begin with fer_'. Then I could mark the files I want. I don't want to sync since there are a ton of files.

Added to TODO list. However as a low priority item, sorry.

Find Files

Hi Martin,
Ok here's how it goes;

Once logged I get a list of files for the current directory I am in.
An option is to find files in that folder, what this does is bring up a seperate search window that allows me to see the filtered items I just searched for allowing me to sort by any of the attributes.

My scenario is I check a folder for log files the error logs and success logs are in the same folder, the error logs are preceeded by fer_ then a number, I search for the fer files, then sort the list by date and select the ones I want and queue them for download. All from the search window.

Can something like this be added to WinSCP, even if the option came in the form of a less than greater than option in the mark then I could say 'Please mark all the files newer than Jul-08-2005 that begin with fer_'. Then I could mark the files I want. I don't want to sync since there are a ton of files.

Please let me know if this all sounds like gibberish.

Thank you,
Zucky

I'm a converted user from FlashFXP, it has no SFTP capabilities, and I love WinSCP so far, but there is the little issue of the find command that FlashFXP does so well. You can find a file on the server and queue it for transmission, I use it all the time, and so far it's the only thing that slows me down on WinSCP.

Are you talking about the same thing?

I'm not sure what you are talking about :-)

I'm testing WinSCP out for the company I work for, so I'll be making some kind of donation once I convince everyone that it's the best option, which won't be hard at all.

Thank you.

Re: Search on the server

I'll add the function soon.

Search on the server

OK. I know this can also be done by PuTTY, but WinSCP should be able to do too :-)

A lot new Linux distro's have 'locate' available.

So, could WinSCP issue a 'locate' on the server and display the results?

Obviously, the user needs to be given an option to run a 'updatedb' too.
