F2
once to select name + extension; then if you press F2
once more only name will be selected. F2
works just for filename without extension and I did not found any option in the Properties panel... I used F2
in previous versions very often and I need it to select the whole filename, because usually I past this filename in the command line after that....
The best way is to do it like in Total Commander – pressF2
once to select name + extension; then if you pressF2
once more only name will be selected.
P.s. and while we are at it, let's change it toShift+F6
like in TC ;))
Shift+F6
is already occupied in WinSCP.

to rename files, the complete file name is selected, so the use can start typing without deleting the old file name first. Let alone the actual file name (without the extension) be selected after pressing F2
! Most probably, in the majority of cases users do not want to change the file extension when renaming files (and when they do, they can delete the extension manually).
