Re: WinSCP keep asking for password on one paticular when use Private Key to a SFTP server

thanks. Though, as I have asked in my previous post, we need log files from both machines.
Also your file contains logs from dozen sessions with different settings. Please make sure you post a log from a single session only.

Then my question is on the client sever, what would trigger the SFTP server not offering the key authentication methods?

It's the server that controls it.

Anyway, if you want us to check, please post log files from both computers.

Yes, I understand this is from server end response, however the wired thing is that if we using the same key, the same username and from the same network on another server, it works, logged in straight. as the script must run from that application server to upload files to our customers side, we can't rebuilt a new server, and also the server end at customer side, the log I won't be able to get.

I attached our end debug 2 log, if we can file what from our end would trigger that behaviour, then we can change from our end

WinSCP keep asking for password on one paticular when use Private Key to a SFTP server

Hi Martin,

I have one server try to connect a SFTP server by using Private Key and Username. it keeps ask me for the password. I noticed in the log the sever didn't offer key authentication. but we tested on the other machine, it worked. I also uninstall the WinSCP (select clear all configuration ) + delete all WinSCP related register key and files including temp files, and then reinstall it, it still didn't work.

Then my question is on the client sever, what would trigger the SFTP server not offering the key authentication methods?

2019-12-31 09:40:31.908 Server offered these authentication methods: password,keyboard-interactive

thank you
