Re: overwrite prompt for deleted file

Can you please answer this?
Is all this necessary to reproduce the problem? Won't you get the problem with a simple file upload (on the background) – Without the prior download, the delete and the upload under a different name?

Also, can you send me an email, so I can send you back a debug version of WinSCP to track the problem? Please include a link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have sent the email. Thanks.

You will find my address (if you log in) in my forum profile.

And the problem is the cache system. If I manually refresh after deleting the file the prompt does not happen.

Can you describe what does the log file show? I see that you have downloaded file PH.txt on the background. Then you have deleted the file from the server. And uploaded it back under a different name (as PH2.txt). Is that correct? Is all this necessary to reproduce the problem? The log actually indicates that the directory was reloaded after the upload. – But it does not log any details of that, so maybe something went wrong during the reload. Though I'm still not able to reproduce the problem, even if I do exactly what you did.

I have sent you an email with a debug version of WinSCP to the address you have used to register on this forum.

1. Upload
2. Delete
3. Upload again (same name)
4. Overwrite prompt
5. Choose to rename file

The debug version was not delivered, as your email address seems to be invalid.

Please attach a full session log file showing the problem.

Automatically refresh directory after operation is ON, I made sure of that. The file is not listed after deletion.

This and many other problems can be solved by forcing autorefresh after operations even when background transfer is enabled, but you refuse to do it.

At least give the option to enable it.

overwrite prompt for deleted file

All cache on, background transfer on.

Delete a file on server, upload it again, and you get an overwrite prompt for an inexistent file not even listed.

Related to the awful cache system and your refusal to refresh after operations.

I dont provide any log and I don't expect you to fix it. This post is just for the record and letting other ppl in the future know this bug was foud years before and nothing was fixed.
