Ok so we have a wireless router with a transfer rate of 54Mb/s, a desktop with a wireless card with a transfer rate of 54Mb/s, and a laptop with a wireless card of at least 54Mb/s (not sure the exact speed). We have set up the network and when we went to transfer files from the laptop to the desktop we got a transfer rate of a blazing 795kb/s. Why is this? Is there some way to get a faster transfer rate? At this rate it would be faster to throw the files one an external hard drive and walk them to the other computer.
