You should be able to press Esc while reading the directory to cancel it. Unless those 2000 entries are read in a single go (it's actually not that many).

I'm using plain FTP w/o encryption.
But it would make sense for the directory not to report its size before you go into it.
In my case, is a directory of stored emails my server has been sending out. (2000+)

Large Directory Loading

I accessed a folder on a server that had 2000+ files in it.
This took upwards of 30 seconds.
The program was unresponsive while I waited.
I was not surprised, as it usually only takes 0.5 seconds.
But I wonder if there should be/ can be- a loading dialog about directories.
