Make it clear and simple how to freeze local and remote columns between sessions

Having used the product for many years, the latest release requires me to fiddle with the columns for local and remote each time I reboot

This was not the case before. I am sure that there is a facility for doing so. It is not obvious -- and is a complete waste of my time
