error getting name of current remote directory

Hi all

Went through as many searches as I could find on this error, but no luck.

Client side:
XP SP2
WinSCP 4.04

Server side:
2003 R2 SP2
WRQ/Reflections Secure IT/FSecure

Can connect properly through FSecure client and FileZilla over SFTP, but "error getting name of current remote directory" from WinSCP 3.81 and 4.4

You may also be able to find something useful in the log file of the server.

The second half of my original post is all I get on the server in the event logs. Where else should I be looking?

That's strange that the server does not log anything upon returning an error to the client. Isn't it possible to increase logging level on the server? Otherwise you should seek a help with the server vendor.

I have everything enabled:

Like I said, other clients can connect, just so happens WinSCP is the one I have running and I can't see it right.

I even went as far yesterday to completely remove all security settings in MS, and no difference.

Well, most (if not all) other SFTP clients does not follow SFTP specification. They does not ask SFTP server to canonize a path before actually using it. WinSCP does that and that is the operation that fails.
