progress bar/dialog window?

Maybe I missed it somewhere?

How do I make a progress bar/dialog appear while my
script is running?

My program that calls my sftp script minimizes while
the script runs and leaves the user looking at just
a plain desktop until script finishes.

WinSCP does not run in GUI mode when script is running, so there's no progress window.
