Hello

I think only since WinSCP version 5.5.1 (maybe one version previously sometimes as well, not sure) I have now quite often when I try to download (and edit) a file (by DoubleClick) this error:

"Copying files from remote side failed."

see attached sreenshot of this error message.
There seems to be no rule when I get it, but it is normally working when I doubleclick the file a second time. It is not every time, but a bit too often.
So it is a bit annoying but not soo dramatic.
Seems to be a bug, I guess.

I am on Windows XP (SP3, 32)

Sorry, I just replied to this tread, because I thought I don't need to open a new one, with the same Subject, but maybe because this first bugreport is not complete, better I make a new and thorrowful complete bugreport?

If not, just answer here, that I know that this tread is wellknown and read by dev.

Thank

frank

Thanks for your reports.
I have sent both of you an email with a debug version of WinSCP to address you have used to register on this forum.

Thank you for this test version 5.6.0 (Build 3977) which I had to remove from spam folder ;)

No, the bug is still present.
I have again this error message.

The bug is definitely not fixed in the debug version. I need you to send me a trace file as per instructions in the email.

Sorry I didn't read the instructions, I didn't follow the link in the mail.

OK I sent you now a trace log when the error occured (which I had to cut a bit, there are plenty of private data/logins present!!!).

Sent with email to your address (martin@...) as reply to your mail.

The script I was running perfectly for a long time suddenly gives me this error. Any input would help.

Copying file from remote side failed.
General failure (server should provide error description).
Error code: 4
Error message from server (en): Conversion failed: EDC5020I An attempt to allocate memory in the Language Environment has failed., file: //'filename'
Request code: 5

First, this does not seem to be relevant to this thread. Please start your own.
But anyway, the error comes from your server. You should better seek an advice from your server administrator/vendor.
