Re: WinSCP keep throwing out 0xc0000005 and CFGMGR32.dll errors

Hi Martin,

Installing the latest ver 5.5 seems to have resolved the issue. Will continue to monitor in the next few days and advise if issue pops up again.
Out of curiosity, why is using the older version having the issue while the latest version doesn't? Would like to understand what is causing the error.

Thanks for your help, Martin.

Regards,
Will

There were tens of bugs fixed since, any of them being possible culprit.

Hi Martin,
After installing 5.5, the issue seemed to go away for approx one week, but has popped up again. The error detail are pretty much the same as what we used to get with the ealrier version:

Faulting application name: WinSCP.exe, version: 5.5.0.3839, time stamp: 0x00000000
Faulting module name: CFGMGR32.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17621, time stamp: 0x4ddb8851
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00001295
Faulting process id: 0x934
Faulting application start time: 0x01cf1a0541d34325
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\WinSCP\WinSCP.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\CFGMGR32.dll
Report Id: 80e8e0af-85f8-11e3-b5c7-005056810251

Would you be able to advise please how to get around this ? Any plan to release new versions ?

Thanks,

Mater

Hi Martin,

Both mater and I are both trying to fix the problem on the same machine. As mater mentioned, problem went away for 1 week after installing latest version but resurfaced. Any clues on how we can resolve this?

Thanks,
Lobbie

I have the same problem on a W2008R2 64bit server. It occurs about once a day, sometimes more often, sometimes not.

Interestingly, the debug version you gave me did not produce any error over weeks, but turned out to be very slow. So I replaced it with the normal version and the aforementioned crashes continue to happen.

Thanks for your kind support & best regards, -pl

same issue, resolved yet?

I am having the same issue on several Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) servers. Issue has been occurring sporadically since we started using the servers. I am variously using versions 5.5.5, 5.5.4, and 5.1.4. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Martin, it seems that my company's filters blocked the email. I have changed my registered email to my home address. Would you be able to re-send the debug version?

Re: same issue, resolved yet?

Martin, thank you very much for re-sending the email.

Yesterday (prior to receiving the debug version) I had installed beta version 5.6.2 and run my test script to see if I could reproduce the error. I did not get the error with version 5.6.2. As such, it looks like the issue has been resolved somewhere between version 5.5.5 and version 5.6.2. I notice that the debug version is also 5.6.2, so I don't expect that I would get the error with the debug version either.

Do you know how soon version 5.6.* will be promoted from beta to stable release?
