soft link to a folder not just a document: didn't figure it out after all and/or forgot it

As stated before:

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out how to link a folder/file to another folder/file in a different directory. I am trying to manage a collection of musical arrangements and want to be able to not have to update two different folders every time I change an arrangement.

I'm trying to get a link from a folder, "Song 1" containing a folder of MuseScore files (music printing/publishing software)and another folder of PDFs of all the individual parts into a folder called "next rehearsal".

I want it set up so that I can change the contents of "Song 1" linked to the inside the folder called "next rehearsal" such that if I change the contents of "Song 1" I don't have to go and change the contents of "next rehearsal/Song 1" manually.

I've tried using the Files->Edit Links process but always get something to the effect to "Folder Named XXXXX Already Exists". I've tried linking from the original folder to the rehearsal folder and from the rehearsal folder the original folder and get the same message. I guess I'm confused about the "Link/shortcut file" and the "Point link/shortcut to:" fields.


I got it working yesterday, but have forgotten how I did it. (Heavy meds :| )

- Open the folder next rehearsal
- Go to Files > New > Link
- In Link file enter Song 1 (if there's already file/link Song 1 already in the next rehearsal, delete it first)
- In Point link to enter ../Song 1 (if I understand the structure correctly).

You know,I had been doing that and it worked before and just stopped working. After two days, I finally discovered that it was a simple capitalization. I wasn't capitalizing the the source filename properly. Guess I need to pay more attention to detail.
