I could reproduce the problem. Here it is what I have done: pressed F7 to create a remote folder. Entered any name (ex. "lalala"), then press <enter>, and while waiting for the folder to be created, quickly press <enter> again. It can be reproduced easily with a slow connection.

The problem happens rarely. I cannot reproduce it.

This is accessing a Raspberry Pi 3, running Raspbian Jessie Lite via SFTP (over port 22)

Initial connection works, and I connect to /home/pi (I select "No" when asked to remember the SSH KEY, as this is a temporary setup)

In this case, I enabled viewing of hidden files (CTRL+ALT+H), then tried to navigate "up", to / by clicking on the "/" in the grey path banner shown above the remote pane.

I cannot reproduce after closing / restarting WinSCP

The problem happens rarely. I cannot reproduce it.

Using Windows 7(64) tried to connect to AWS(Micro Ubuntu, NginX) I amd mostly able to change directory. Sometimes I get this error message.

The problem happens rarely. I cannot reproduce it.

Error upon reconnect to a host which had just changed its host key.
Pressed "Update" to update the key.
WinSCP tried to change to the previously active directory (which did exist on the remote, but whose contents/subdirectories did not match what was last seen by WinSCP).

I DO NOT KNOW YET IF THE PROBLEM WILL REPRODUCE (requires reimaging target machine or otherwise regenerating key, changing folder contents, etc.)
