<Try to describe precise steps that lead to the problem (where do you click, what keys do you press, what do you see, etc.)>

Not sure what happened. I have been allowing the computer to go to sleep a lot while my session is open, and I just happened to come back to WinSCP and this message was up. Sorry I don't have better details.

Re: Invalid access to memory - Customdriveview::TCustomDriveView::IterateSubTree

Thanks for your report.
I have sent you an email with a debug version of WinSCP to address you have used to register on this forum.

Used the debug version, which crashed after 1-2 hours and windows (8.1) told me sth like 'the program has stopped working, click here to terminate'

Attaching the trace log.

I assume this is not the same problem as the 'invalid access to memory'

Invalid access to memory - Customdriveview::TCustomDriveView::IterateSubTree

After sleeping windows and coming back from office, I reopened windows. WinScp was continously retrying to connect to the machine in my office network and failing. In the mean time, I connected to VPN and the crash happened.

Invalid access to memory - Customdriveview::TCustomDriveView::IterateSubTree

This error message "Invalid access to memory" showed up immediately after I finished installing the upgraded version of WinSCP on 8/15/2016. When I finished installation, I unchecked the view upgrade details page and made sure Run WinScp box was checked. Then i clicked finish. I'm running Windows 10 with the anniversary update freshly installed. I had to manually close SettingsSyncHost in order to make the installation work.

Invalid access to memory - Customdriveview::TCustomDriveView::IterateSubTree

I think this occurred following putting the computer into hibernation when I had to quickly vacate an office and move elsewhere. I only realised that there was a problem when the error screen appeared! I haven't experienced this problem under similar conditions before (I don't think).
Sorry I can't be of more help!

Invalid access to memory - Customdriveview::TCustomDriveView::IterateSubTree

Was connected at home over VNC last night. Came into work this morning and was working for some time before trying to use WinSCP. WinSCP login window was up. Entered my password, but as usually happens when I don't address the login window at first network connect, it failed the login. Entered my password a second time and it crashed.

Invalid access to memory - Customdriveview::TCustomDriveView::IterateSubTree

This error happened when I started my laptop from hibernation. I hibernate most nights and often have WinSCP running, never had this happen until now (track record of 5+ years on multiple machines).

I recently updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (regular upgrade through Windows Update).

When starting after hibernation, the computer recognized wrongly my external screen - instead of showing 4K output, it seemed to downgrade to 1080p or lower, and Windows seemed to briefly change the zoom (I have 100% set to all known screens, it seemed to enlarge UI to higher zoom value). It was in the weird state for couple of seconds only, then I reconnected the screen and all went normal, except WinSCP throwing this error twice.

The system is running many programs with many windows, using about 22 GB RAM out of 32 GB. Last full restart was 15 days ago, WinSCP could have been running about that long, with hibernation happening most nights (usually it just reconnects the active tab when the computer wakes up).

The error box showed up twice (with identical stack trace), presumably because there were two connected tabs (more open, but the ones I haven't used in some time / since previous hibernation disconnected, showing the faded screen icon) prior to hibernation (but could be a coincidence). WinSCP reconnected the active tab and seems to be working. I restarted WinSCP without further problems (no issues before restart, but I feel safer restarting the program after memory error).

Invalid access to memory - Customdriveview::TCustomDriveView::IterateSubTree

I wasn't doing anything in the application, it was just running in the background. This seems to have happened when I woke the laptop up from hibernation, although it's possible it happened before hibernation.

I see another report that involves an external screen. I was also using an external screen before hibernation. The external screen was turned off at some point, not sure if it was before or during hibernation, in any case it wasn't on when the laptop woke up.

Reproduction scenario:
Connected to remote host successfully. Did several hibernate along a couple of weeks without using WinSCP. Now, tried to reconnect, entered the username. I see the software tried to display remote file system (debian) and crashed right after that. I could not even enter my password.
