Yes, enabling "New and updated files only" got me the desired result, to NOT copy files already present on server.
I think "overwrite" is more user friendly than "New and updated files only" because that's what I have seen for [almost] all copy operations so far. Not specifically FTP copy, but copy/save files in general.
I don't think synchronize is more convenient for me because I have multiple local folders (let's say 100), I'm updating let's say 10 folders with 20 new files, but I need to upload only 6 files from 2 folders.

Do you mean that you get the "0 KB" and "Complete", when all the files that you have selected for the transfer, were actually not transferred, because you have opted to transfer "New and updated files only", right?

Why do you think that "overwrite" is more user friendly than "New and updated files only"?

Did you consider using synchronization instead?

Well, now I feel stoopid :) :(
The Queue window showed transfered 0 Kb, transfer complete.
Which, basically, means file was skipped = desired outcome !!
Either I was not paying attention.
Or the new option "New and updated files only" did the trick.
So, problem solved.
Or, maybe, change option name to a more user friendly one: overwrite....
Or, maybe, a more user friendly message: file was skipped.....

Re: Overwite/skip criteria

Please attach a full session log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP).
Don't forget to name a file that was copied even though you believe it should not.

To generate the session log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you can mark the attachment as private.

Overwite/skip criteria

I have an FTP server on my home network and WinSCP client on my PC.
I copy files daily (motion pictures ;) , tv episodes, subtitles).
Sometimes I forget and copy same episode + subtitle.
WinSCP just copies / overwrites, no warning, no message, nothing.
I have found only one single option:
Options > Preferences > Transfer > Default profile > Edit > New and updated files only
As far as I understand, this enabled option will compare filename AND file time (timestamp).
Also, in the same screen, option Preserve timestamps is enabled.
Again, end result of copying a file which already exists on server = overwrite, no warning, no message.
I don't want to spend time configuring server or WinSCP.
I really don't care about timestamp, I just want the simplest check: filename, file size, anything else really.
Is there such an option? Thank you.
