You asked to change the protocol to FTP. Your suggestion helped me.

Passive mode FTP worked for me connecting to GoDaddy on Windows 7....but I had the same problem until I tweaked it to Passive Mode.

If it helps to know this, I have had many hosts. Godaddy is the ONLY one that I've had any sort of trouble with. On occasion I'll have a small problem with other hosts, but they're quickly resolved. Some GoDaddy problems are never resolved, even with their support. The problem probably isn't with your FTP, it's with your host.

Hello,

My home computer has Windows Vista Ultimate. I set my firewall to unblock for WinSCP.

I enter in my login details for my Godaddy FTP account and WinSCP connects fine and then promptly kicks me off and informs me

Disconnected from server
Could not retrieve directory listing
TYPE is now ASCII
Error listing directory '/'

I triple checked to make sure my username and password is correct, and indeed it is. Then I installed WinSCP on my Windows 2003 server and tried it via remote desktop. It worked perfectly! So what's the deal? What is wrong with my PC that is preventing WinSCP from functioning properly?
