Re: Moving multiple files

The server is supposed to fail the move command if the destination files already exists, at least with SFTP protocol.

I'm afraid that recovering the data would be difficult.

Moving multiple files

A user was attempting to move multiple logs files off a system to a remote file share. The user selected the files, right clicked the selection, and chose Move To... The file share location was entered incorrectly and ultimately moved the selected files to a single file in the current working directory. It does not appear as if the files were merged however. It appears as though the Move To process moved the files one by one to this new local file overwrighting the previous (incorrect) file with the data of the next file to be processed. This ultimately resulted in the new local file containing only the data from the last file being "moved".

In this scenario is the Move To process working as intended and is there any possibility of retrieving the presumably lost data?
