(o umlaut) and it is impossible to log using SFTP and WinSCP. Logging using putty works fine, also changing the password to one containing only ASCII characters solved the problem. You should definitely have a look on it.

character at the end so perhaps WinSCP doesn't like this when communicating with the FTP server. It looks like FileZilla is slightly more intelligent with how it deals with this issue.
