Persistent bug in display of user and group permissions

I just found that when a file owner's name contains a space WinSCP will send everything after the first space to the column for group permissions. For example, when owner is "domain admins" and group is "domain admins", these permissions will appear as owner "domain" and group "admins domain admins". Another example: "enterprise read-only domain controllers" + "domain admins" will show as "enterprise" + "read-only domain controllers domain admins".

I am posting in this thread because I suppose it is related to the previously reported bug 1288/1212.

This bug is present up to version 5.80 Beta.

I must add that Putty 0.66 shows the permissions correctly.

Thank you again four your outstanding work.

Re: Bad mapping of UTF8 character?

Can you send me an email, so I can send you back a development version of WinSCP for testing? Please include link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have sent the email. Thanks.

You will find my address (if you log in) in my forum profile.

Re: Bad mapping of UTF8 character?

Please attach a full log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP).

Here goes the log. It has been anonymized, otherwise it is complete.

Thank you.

Re: Bad mapping of UTF8 character?

Thanks for your report.

Please attach a full log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP).

To generate log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you can mark the attachment as private.

Re: Bad mapping of UTF8 character?

I must add that the file names themselves show correctly, only owner and group permissions show incorrect characters. As I said before, Putty shows the correct characters at the exact same positions.

Re: Bad mapping of UTF8 character?

I am referring, of course, to the owner and group permissions as shown in the WinSCP listings of files As a matter of fact, I just discovered that other accented characters also show incorrectly. For example, "ó" shows as "ó".

Bad mapping of UTF8 character?

I have been using WinSCP together with Putty for some years. I was very happy with the extended UTF8 support offered by WinSCP in the later versions. Meanwhile, it seems to me that an error persists in the mapping of some UTF8 characters.

One of the user groups in me servers is called "gráficos". This is correctly show by Putty. However, WinSCP shows it as "gráficos".

Both programs are configured for UTF8.

Is this a bug? If it is, would one of the developers be so kind as to fix it?

Thank you for the awesome work.
