check for transmission error

Does WinSCP some kind of transmission error checks?

For example I'm just uploading a 400 MB file to
my server using FTP over explicit SSL and I want
to be sure that the transferred data (bits) are
transferred without errors.

But I don't want to run a md5 or sha on the
server after the upload so my question is,
are there any checks during the transfer?

Thanks!

Depends on protocol. It is kind of implicit fro SSH (SFTP and SCP).
