WinSCP not prompting for new Password

As per this website (https://winscp.net/eng/docs/ui_authenticate#password_change) it says that it should prompt for a new password when the account has been disabled. Somehow it does not work on my system:
I have disabled an account on the sftp server
When trying to login via SSH it prompts for a new password
WARNING: Your password has expired.
You must change your password now and login again!
Changing password for user ex2m3.

But in WinSCP i just get the error
Cannot initialize SFTP protocol. Is the host running a SFTP server?
Any ideas how I can fix that?
