Cannot connect via SSH Key

WinSCP Version: 4.3.5

The problem started happening when I upgraded.

Previous Working Version: 4.3.3 (Build 1340)

OS: Window 7 Ultimate

Protocol: SFTP with SCP fallback

Interface: GUI-Commander

While connecting to a Red Hat Linux server either my key in Pagent isn't being used, or is refused and I get prompted for a password. When I use the old version, it accepts my key just fine.

Make sure you are using Pageant from PuTTY 0.61 or Pageant included in WinSCP installation package.

Thanks, that was the issue. I'd only glanced at the changes for the current version and hadn't noticed the first change for 4.3.4 was the change to Putty 0.61. Even so I wouldn't have necessarily thought it wouldn't have been backwards compatible unless there would have been something specifically would have alerted me to that fact so I could upgrade (like an alert in the installer or something like that).

I just upgraded to 5.0.2 and I'm seeing this problem again on Win7 x64. No issues on Windows XP 32.

WinSCP 5.0.2 1456
Windows 7 SP1 x64
putty 0.61
pageant 0.61

Was last working in 4.3.5.

logs show same error:

So, if you downgrade to 4.3.5 and keep the 0.61 PuTTY, it works?

Yes. I uninstalled 5.0.2, rebooted, installed 4.3.5, rebooted, and everything worked fine again.

I upgraded to 5.0.2 again, rebooted, and the error returned.

Drag and drop explorer uploads have also stopped working for me in 5.0.2, on both this Win7 64 system and my Windows XP system. Downgrading to 4.3.5 fixes it on both machines.

BTW, when similar problem occured last time (https://winscp.net/tracker/662), PuTTY also was having problems authenticating through pageant. But now PuTTY works correctly and only WinSCP is having problems.

Just tried 5.0.4 beta on Win 7 x64 and I have this problem too. I have PuTTY 0.61 and Pageant works fine for PuTTY. WinSCP 4.3.5 also works fine with Pageant.
