winscp has problems with virtualbox and windows xp

when i try to download files from an ftp location, i will see the transfer dialog. when i scan the directory structures, it will not continue... (like a pause)

What does it mean "scan the directory structures"?
Do you mean WinSCP hangs? Indefinitelly? Or temporarily?
