Recovering Downloaded Files/Folders

Hello, I was wondering if there was any way you could recover an older version of a folder that was updated when I downloaded the new version over. I accidentally downloaded a folder and replaced the existing folder on my computer and I need to get it back. I didn't want to download the updated version of my folder. Also, where does the old folder go after I download the new version over from my iphone? I was downloading app folders over to my computer to back-up and I had my app crash and so I was going to upload the backed up folder when I accidently downloaded the same folder, thus causing the new folder to hold the crash issue. I'm running version 5.3.3
