Network Error Connection Timed Out

I am connecting to a remote server via the cisco vpn software and I get a connection ok. The I try to sftp in with winscp and I get this message after a few seconds. Any ideas on what the prob is our how to fix it. Not being able to ftp is causing a real pain in my backside. Any thought? The error message seems failry generic, can anyone shed some light?

Is suggested above, first check any other SSH client to find out if it is connection problem or problem of WinSCP. You may even try any simple TCP/IP client to connect to the server and port 22. Like telnet client shipped withy Windows.
