How to run a simple shell command

I am new to WinSCP.

I want to run a few simple shell commands, e.g.

I am using the Explorer Interface.
I tried using the menu option Commends\Open Terminal but this doesn't seem to work.

I opened the session using the format ftp://mysite.org

Could someone explain in simple terms how it is possible to run shell commands using WinSCP.

You cannot generally run shell commands over FTP protocol.
