Error listing directory with WinSCP2 and SUNOS

the same problem appears with SuSE-Linux 8.1 Server
WinSCP generates the command ls -al and cannot interprete the first line:
Error listing directory "/".
Unexpected directory listing line "insgesamt 144".
Invalid rights description "nsgesamt "

I was having the same problem after upgrading my systems to SuSE 8.1, where I'm able to log in as root (bash) without incident, but any other user (tcsh) has problems:

"Error listing directory "/work1/www/webman".
Unexpected directory listing line "drwxr-xr-x 10 webman www 1176 2003-02-10 00:00 .".
Operation aborted"

My solution (as recommended in the Requirements) was to set the shell bash in the WinSCP session preference. The only difference between the two shells is the date format.

Yeah I read about that. But may you explain us how to solve this problem correctly. I stuck at the point where I should "untick Clear national variables". So I can't use your program on this system because no one has a solution for it...

Sorry, i have to add: i use the currently available winscp version and i connect to a remote server on which i have no rights to change the local properties. Actually i am sure this is a client side issue, because at home i use winscp423 without any problems...

Got it solved so far:
- Running winscp423.exe on WinXP Pro.
- start winscp and wait for the error to occur.
- Click Options->Command Line
- Enter "setenv LANG " (including the space character!)
- Close the new window appearing.
- That should be it.

Please note: you cannot uncheck "Clear national variables" because these checkboxes are disabled at startup.

The checkbox is available if you select SCP protocol explicitly only. Now you have selected SFTP with SCP fallback probably.

Yeah, you're right actually. However, even after changing to SCP explicitly and unchecking those boxes you suggested in your docs, i do still get the error.
I can't see why i got on this machine at work an german output, but not on my machine at home...

This problem is caused by newer versions of Gnome which have a .gvfs entry (gnome virtual filing system) that generates a lot of ???? instead of the time stamp.
You can make winscp ignore this by changing the default command from:
ls -la
to
ls -la -I .gvfs
(the -I means ignore)
