traverse only directories (e.g. chmod 110) and SFTP

I posted a bug which I thought was part of the OpenSSH server, but as it turns out that it may very well be a client-side bug.

Any comments from developers as to whether this can be addressed?

I'm not sure if I'm willing to add the suggested workaround. It would fix this particular problem with OpenSSH server. Definitely soon, someone will ask for similar fix for specific behaviour for each other SSH server. Anyway I'll consider it, but I do not promise anything :-)
