website 101: set homepage

it's nearly impossible to search for this question:
how do i set a page as homepage?
without index.html
and can i do this on winSCP

i'm sorry for the dumb question, i've looked everywhere on this site.

Of course that you cannot find an aswer as this has nothing to do with WinSCP.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you want to do. Do you want to make certain page default page for a site without naming it index.html? Then, you must configure your webserver so. This is of course webserver-specific. If you are using Apache see DirectoryIndex directive.

what do you mean that this has nothing to do with WinSCP? we only use this program to set up websites! Im having issues with it as well and no one can help on it...

OK, but WinSCP is only file transfer client. How the uploaded files are reflected on your website is matter of your web server configuration.
