How do I use a private key I've already generated to log into FTP??`

I have a private key for tilde.club and I put it into the "authentication" section on WinSCP under Advanced->SSH->Authentication but it won't connect and gives me an error saying "Server refused our key. Authentication failed." It's a private key with a password I use. What do I do!???
