On press F4 key file open for editing in you selected editor. How to do this on the command line.
What commands are executed after pressing the button F4?

/edit - Do not offer. This command open in INTERNAL editor not external.

No commands executed. Scripting/command-line and GUI are not related.

There's no switch or command to open an external editor.
