dowload setting server error logs recency

I have an issue with error logs from my host not being downloaded by 'most recent, descending' (currently accessing files on server by 'oldest, ascending) - transfer limits by host mean I am not getting the most recent files downloaded when limit is reached - if downloaded by recency it would solve a problem.

Is this settable, if so where/how?

First, are you using GUI or scripting?
