Changes to site login requires running WinSCP as Admin

When I need to change any of the login parameters, e.g., a password or encryption protocol, if I just open via the icon on my desktop provided during the installation package, there is some writing back to somewhere (maybe the config INI file) that the application doesn't have permission to write. I have to close the program, right click and "Run as Admin."

This has been happening only for a while but I can't remember when. Is the installation package not given the exe or the application folder the necessary permissions?

Re: Changes to site login requires running WinSCP as Admin

You have probably run WinSCP in past with Administrator permissions and while doing so switched it to store its settings to an INI file. The INI got stored to "Program Files" folder, where normally one cannot write to.

Run WinSCP as Administrator and switch back to Registry storage (or different INI file location):

If this does not help, please post exact error message and a screenshot of the "Storage" settings.
