Can Synchronize use multiple connections in parallel?

It appears my remote provider is throttling bandwidth per connection, but they do allow 2 connections to be opened and this does actually provide twice the bandwidth.

Is there any way to make Synchronize open and use 2 connections in the background? (other than starting 2 instances of winSCP and choosing non-overlapping dirs)

Might be a nice-to-have feature. :-)

No you cannot. It's not easy thing to do :-(
