Option to automatically detect and preserve EOL format

I've been using UltraEdit and Textpad for years and they both have the ability to automatically detect and preserve the EOL format of files. I'd like to suggest that the WinSCP editor be made to also do this. Thx

Such functionality would clashes with ascii mode transfers. How would you combine these two features?

I'm not sure how TextPad and UltraEdit accomplish this or how difficult it would be to implement.

I just checked and both PSPad and Notepad2 also have this ability. And for Notepad2, the source code is available for download.
