Directories with many files

Hello,

recently I wanted to view a directory on a remote PC (where Linux is installed), which contains a large amount of files (> 100000). WinSCP wasn't able to show the directory with the files, but hang.

How can a directory with a lot of files be viewed - with WinSCP (without hanging) or even with another adequate tool?

WinSCP should not hang in this situation. But it can take a long time to load the directory. WinSCP may hang rarely, if you have a cyclic link in the directory though.
