Setup"Access violation 004096DA. Write of address 00401000."

Hi!

Every time I'm trying to run the WinSCP-Setup exe im getting the error message:

Access violation 004096DA. Write of address 00401000.

When I press "OK" the setup is being canceled!
I was even trying to install older versions which I still had on my disk, but the same error.

I hope somebody can help me to solve this problem.

Can you try to install some very old version (like 3.0)? You can download it here.

Was able to run the 3.0 Setup....that's weird. :shock:

OK. Can you, step by step, try to install later versions to find out the one that introduced the problem?

The problem first occurs with verion 3.4.
Can run the setup of 3.3 without any problems.

Thanks. 3.4 was the first localized version, which one have you tried? winscp340setup.exe or winscp340setupintl.exe? Can you try both?

I just had to close all open programs and tadaaaaa - it works!

You are missing a vital windows file. Not joking. I had this problem too (although different setup)
