WinSCP4.0.4 - Bug in FTP

With WinSCP 4.0.4, using graphical interface, under Windows XP SP2 french.

When transferring files, after each end of transfer, the transfer starts again and again and again...

On the destination folder, once the file is good, it is erased and a new file is created, until the tranfer completes... This is in an infinite loop !

Best regards

Laurent (from France)

Re: WinSCP4.0.4 - Bug in FTP

Can you post a log file showing this? How do you transfer a file?

Restarts on completed downlad

This looks like my problem I had. I was trying to download 4.4 gb Mandriva 2006.4 from Mandriva server (password connection, I bought the paid package). I downloaded the latest Winscp 12/25/07(after a failure with IE ftp)and after some stalls where the connection remained but the download stopped (restart download with or without WinSCP restart and resume worked OK, but when after 10 hours, it got to 99% and counting down the last kBs, there was a very brief error flash (something about error from server but too quick to read), then it restarted the download from 0% without any input or hesitation, this all in a matter of 1 or 2 seconds. This happened twice, I believe, before I was sitting there to watch it. It has been a long 3 days.

Windows XP professional, downloading directly onto 16 gig free NTFS disk with (no drag n drop to avoid a temp file - main drive is FAT32) using Norton interface gui in FTP, Passive on.

Last log session (I believe the 99% error restart happened at "2007-12-27 14:29:38.265 Timeout detected."):

Erratta on previous post

An error - I am downloading Mandriva 2008.0, not 2006!

And I am now at 85% using Free Download Manager, keeping my fingers crossed (although I got ATT to get my DSL back up to 3 Mbs, so its only 4 hours instead of 10 hours for each try!). I will post those results - perhaps WinSCP is perfect! I hope to find what happened with WinSCP, I would hate to mess with several FTP programs, Winscp is so straightforward, its great when I am coaching someone else over the phone to do the input for me at a remote location.

I cannot tell why the connection was interrupted. But it definitely looks strange that WinSCP has restarted download from zero. I'll check that. It may be a problem with 4GB boundary.

Same issue here

Hello,

I ve got the same issue, but not only with "large" files (12MB).
Ithinkt that's because the FTPserver is closing down the connection right after download completes.
I can see the popup "the server closed the connection" with a count down to restart ... But on restart the download overwrites everything.

Thanks in advance,

Julien

Re: Same issue here

Oh yeah, and what happened during the session :

Firt, I download a small file that gets downloaded well.
Then I download a larger file. There is an interruption, and the download is successfully resumed and reaches its end. I see the popup that asks me if I want to reconect but has a timer. The timer completes, the download restarts from the beginning.

Thanks for your help.
