Cannot copy directory to remote server.

Hello,

I am unable to copy a directory from my local machine up to my UNIX host. I am trying to copy a directory "test" to the remote system which does not already contain a "test" directory. I receive the following error:

Can't create folder 'arpa/ns/n/nxg/test/".
No such file or directory.
Error code: 2
Error message from server: No such file (?)
Request code: 14

I receive this error using either the Norton or Explorer interface, and it is consistent in all directories on the remote host. I've tried every combination of permissions, and options I can think of. Am I missing something? :?

Thanks for your help!

Mark

Re: Cannot copy directory to remote server.

I have no clue. Can you upload any other directory? Have you tried SCP? Can you setup test account for me? I would like to solve this.

Martin,

I cannot upload ANY directory using SFTP. I CAN upload a directory using SCP (both in WinSCP and with PUTTY.)

Since I am only a user on the system I'm accessing, I cannot give you an account, but you can create one for yourself! Telnet to: sdf.lonestar.org. At the prompt type "new", and follow the instructions. :-)

Thanks!

Mark

I've created account. I can telnet/SSH there, but I cannot SFTP there (using any client, not only WinSCP). They still urge my to pay some fee, maybe SFTP works only after I pay it???

Hi Martin,

Now that you mention it, I remember that this site had a problem a while ago with people abusing FTP. If you want to use FTP you have to pay them 1 (or 5) Euro... That is a ONE TIME fee. Once you pay that you have access to the system for LIFE (and the system has been around since 1987!, being a UNIX system since 1991.)

Here is all the information on WHY the fee, etc: https://sdf.org/index.cgi?why
