Log-Format

Hi
I have to upload and download files by a script.
I write one log for uploads and one log for downloads.
Is it possible to reduce the logged information just to errors, uploaded files and downloaded files?
I do not want to have any information such as "what server is running at other side, which protocols and ports are used..."
