Temp file before and time-outs

I'm using WinSCP for FTP in explorer mode.

What happens if you have a file open in an external editor and your FTP session times out. If you leave the file open in the external editor and then reconnect to your server does the file still get synced back up to the server when you save it and close the external editor?
