"Invalid access to memory" in local system root

"Invalid access to memory" in local system root

I get an "Invalid access to memory" error if I go back all the way to the root of the local system drive (C) with the latest version (4.1.7)

It also messes up the fonts like this:

How do you "go back all the way", if that matters?
