Winscp 4.2.3 stops responding in windows vista

Hello,
I am using Winscp for a while now, and i was very pleased with this software. Now i am forced to use it under windows vista home basic, and it keeps crashing (for no particular reason). I can see that it stops responding more often when i am copying files using ftp.

I recently installed windows 7 on my pc, and i have the same problem. The FTP file transfer stops after a while, and then the application stops responding.

I know this program works fine in windows XP because i use it for a lot of time. Is there a plugin or something that can fix this? It is quite unusable with all this crashes, and i do not wish to migrate to another ftp cleint.
