How to delete console/terminal command history

How can the archived list of previous used commands in the console/terminal be cleared?

Thanks Martin I'll get into regedit.

I note that the command history has been unpredictable - it records some used commands and not others - why is that?

I do not know, I've never experienced this. Can you tell me how to reproduce that?
