Re: WinSCP source code

I will, but I still don't have time to clean the code and make order in files, so it would make any use to someone other than me.

Re: WinSCP source code

Can I Please Help?
  • I would be willing to help clean up the code. Have you considered releasing it under the GPL?
Others Want It Too
  • I am a contributor for GNUWin II – a Windows CD distribution of Free Windows Software. They can't include WinSCP because it's 'freeware' – the source code is not readily available.
  • I would like to see the source code released so that I can recommend this program to friends and family as Free Software (or Open Source), not just freeware.
It Just Makes Sense (TM)
  • One important aspect of security-related software like this is that without source code it's extremely difficult to audit how secure the software is.

Thanks, I've already did that. But I've noticed, that author one of the GUI libraries (for drag&drop) I'm using does not allow me to publish the source code without his approval. Problem is that page, where I've downloaded the code does not exist anymore. So I don't know how to contact him. I may release only part of the code (without the library), but nobody can compile it.

Sure, I understand this.

That would be a big improvement over what we have now. And perhaps somebody will be able to replace or at least stub out the missing library.

Thanks! sdb

Re: WinSCP source code

@sylvan: OK, I'll release the code with next version, but without the library. Probably I may release library file compiled with C++ Builder 6 (IDE, I'm using). WinSCP can't be compiled in anything else anyway (maybe in older versions of C++ Builder).

Re: WinSCP source code

Is there any updates on the chances of WinSCP being open sourced? WinSCP is a very good application but the freeware licence is holding it back. There is another project called the OpenCD (<invalid hyperlink removed by admin>) which is distributing open source software for Windows, it would also include WinSCP if it were open source (being an OSI approved licence https://opensource.org/license is a requirement for distribution).

I also work for an ISP and we distribute open source software for our users I would like to add WinSCP because I think its a great app, but I don't because of the licence and lack of source.

Also you may find that people provide patches and help for the project that you otherwise wouldn't get.

Anyway, I add my voice, I thing WinSCP is great, please open source it

Thanks
