"low-tech" keep alive

One feature that would be very useful, and probably not difficult to implement : a way to have an automatic "keep-alive" done by sending a useless command to the server (instead of the "null packet" solution).

My ISP keeps closing idle connexions avec 3 min, and the "keep-alive" solution (sending null-packet) doesn't fix this. So I need to either keep pressing "refresh" regularly to keep the connexion up or reconnect (which takes a while). Needless to say, this is horribly painful :(

OK, maybe in next version. For what protocol do you need this (SCP/SFTP)?
That's awesome :)
Any protocol will do actually, so long as I don't have to reconnect every 3 min, my life will be made a lot easier.

And thanks a lot for this incredible software that is WinSCP :D

Ditto on that! WinSCP would be near perfect if only I didn't have to keep reconnecting. I often edit files "on the fly" and it never fails - as soon as I'm ready to save it back to the remote server, I find I've been disconnected.

PLEASE find a way to keep the session alive! I'll be eternally grateful :D

The second mean of keepalives was added in the last release already, see Connection tab of login dialog.

Just downloaded the latest release and tried it out. Good job - no more disconnects!

Thanks!
