Cannot delete, rename, move a file that starts with a " "

On Windows 7, I was able to rename a file to start with a space " " using WinSCP, in left pane. Then I copied the file to a FTP server. I cannot delete, open, rename, move, etc. the file on the server (using WinSCP), yet I can see it (without that space in front).
