Quick Start Guide

If you are using WinSCP for the first time, you may want to start with the Explorer-like interface. This can be selected during installation.

When first starting WinSCP, you’ll be asked for your [[ui_login_session|login information]]. In most cases you will only need to enter the hostname, username, password, select protocol the server uses and click Login. Assuming everything is correct, you will be presented with a directory window similar to that used by Windows Explorer. Dragging of files between this window and other Explorer windows (as well as the desktop) are supported. [[task_index|Additional operations]] may be easily accessed via the right click context menu on any object, as well as by right-dragging a file or directory to another location.
