Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) is a web service offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS).1
Amazon S3 provides cloud storage through web service interfaces (REST, SOAP, and BitTorrent). WinSCP uses the REST interface to interact with S3.
See the guide to:
There are also other storage services that support S3 API, like Google Cloud Storage, Backblaze B2, Dell ECS, DigitalOcean Spaces, MinIO, Wasabi, etc. You can use WinSCP with these services as well.
For some examples, see:
- Accessing Google Cloud Storage bucket with WinSCP;
- Connecting securely to Backblaze B2 storage/bucket with S3.
